Day 1: Moshi / Shira hut
We depart Moshi headed for Londorossi Gate, this takes about 4 hours; complete entry formalities mean while guides and porters prepare equipment. Later drive through a steep track to reach Shira barrier, where the walk begins, the trail can be muddy trekking poles are a good idea. Arrive at Shira camp, for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Shira plateau/Shira hut
this day is spent to acclimatize. The extensive Shira plateau has grassy moorland and volcanic formations. Walk to the summit of Shira Cathedral, a huge buttress of rock surrounded by steep spires and pinnacles. Dinner and overnight at Shira Camp.
Day 3: Shira hut/Lava tower
Ascend leaving behind the grassy and moorland vegetation. Proceed to lava ridges regions. Ascend towards the east direction later wards to the southeast towards the Lava Tower. Dinner and overnight at Lava Tower.
Day 4: Lava tower/Barranco
A brief day spent on a descend to the Barranco camp. Pass the arrow glacier junction before reaching the great Baranco valley with towering cliffs and extensive plains. This day is very important for acclimatization. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Day 5: Barranco/Karanga valley
Breakfast then depart Barranco towards Karanga Valley. This journey is a descend with a series of hills and valleys and a final steep climb to Karanga camp. Dinner and overnight at Karanga Camp.
Day 6: Karanga valley/Barafu
Depart from Karanga valley for Barafu Hut. Hit the junction which connects Mweka trail up the rocky section up to Barafu Hut. This will see you complete the southern circuit. There are a variety of views of the summit from this point. Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can be views from this point. Dinner and overnight at Barafu Camp.
Day 7: Barafu/Mweka hut
Early morning start towards the summit. Trek northwestern direction towards Stella Point, rest briefly the sunrise can be spotted from the Mawenzi Peak. Proceed to Uhuru Peak the highest point on Mt.Kilimanjaro.Enjoy photos from the highest point in Africa. Later begin your descend from the summit point, stop at Barafu for lunch then continue downwards up to Mweka Hut camp. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp.
Day 8; Mweka hut/Mweka gate
Breakfast then descend to Mweka Gate. Here you will collect your summit certificates. These lower levels are usually muddy trekking poles are very useful. The next stop will be at the Mweka Village where a vehicle will meet you for your transit to Moshi.
